can you just confirm that if you deactivate my private groups plugin the problem goes away?
When I deactivate the plugin I, as a Participant, can create a new topic as expected.
But strangely enough I still see the message “No topics found” although the forum does contain a topic created by admin.
My problem looks similar to

except that I am using the defalut WP theme for now.
I think it is a bug in BbPress itself:

I installed both plugins and reverted to the default theme but the problem persists. Any other ideas?
ok, so it isn’t a private groups problem, and with a default wp theme it still doesn’t work – yes ?
if so, i’d suspect ‘user switching’ if that is a plugin
in essence, my standard problem definition actions apply viz :

As a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.
Plugins
Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.
