Hi Cjan,
This maybe beacause of slow network connection.Theme can’t be downloaded to the theme folder.
So, download the theme. upload it to the wp-content/themes.Then you can activate from your dashboard.
This is also applicable for plugin also.when you develop the sites in the local environment.
Well!! i normally face such a challenge while choosing an online theme yet my WordPress project is on a local host. so i guess you can tell what is wrong

if in case you want to add a theme on your local host project, first download your theme to a directory then, using your theme browser on localhost,select the theme from directory where you saved it and upload your theme and after wards activate your theme and don’t forget to customize it.
