    Hi,

is there a way to use the Block Editor and preview an inactive widget? When I use the normal/old editor I can see a “Preview” button but when I switch to the Block editor I don’t find any way to preview it. Since it is not active yet I can’t use the Admin Toolbar either; it says 0 plugins found.

My current workaround is not to use the Block Editor but of course it would be great to be able to use it and have the option to preview it. E.g. add a “View preview” option to the “all popups” list next to “edit”.

    Hi @migaweb,

    Thanks for the question!

Right now, you can’t preview draft popups in the block editor. We’ve already passed this feedback to our development team for future consideration. πŸ™

In the meantime, here’s a workaround you can use:

    1. Publish the popup with the time delay/auto open trigger.
    2. Target the popup to a draft post or page on your site.

This will allow you to see how the popup behaves without it going live to your main audience.

Let us know if you have other questions. 😊

Thank you for the reply. While I could do that it is too difficult for the client to add these options. They just want to change text/images and preview the popup. So for now they have to live without the block editor.

So hopefully there is a chance in the near future that a preview option will be added.

edit: just found this issue on github: https://github.com/PopupMaker/Popup-Maker/issues/1065 so it was already requested in April 2024.

@migaweb – Its coming, just not quite there yet. We are moving toward the block editor as the primary editor in the upcoming v1.21.

It will probably come quickly after though as were feeling that pain point ourselves as we have been testing the new major features coming on our sites.

That said if your clients are going into the popup editor already and using block editor, they are seeing pretty close to what should show up on the front end, though I understand the need to visually see it in the pretty box with overlays or test the button click triggers work etc.

If you want a simple 1 click, bullet-proof solution, our Advanced Targeting can target users by role, its what we have been using, simply adding an AND user has role Admin

Its coming though. Good luck, thanks for the feedback!!
