    Thanks for using Independent Analytics!

This deprecation notice is going to be difficult for us to resolve in the short term. The issue comes from trying to support a wide range of PHP versions. In this case, there is a library we use that throws this deprecation notice as of PHP 8.4, but if we update the library, the newer version will no longer be compatible with PHP 7.4, which 20% of our users are still using. For now, we are going to continue supporting PHP 7.4 so the deprecation notice will show, but since it is only a notice, there is no issue with the functionality of the plugin.

    Hi Ben Sibley,

Thanks for getting back to me, and I now better understand why you sometime delay fixings to accommodate earlier PHPs. I was on 7.4 for years. In any case, I purchased lifetime Pro, as you know, and the plugin looks good, full of features, and it was installed without any problems. If you can add a functionality where we can choose which of the charts or info to show on WP dashboard, it will be helpful, unless there is a way already and I don’t know about it in the pro.

    Thanks for upgrading!

Do you mean the chart in the dashboard widget you see when you first login? We don’t have any options to customize this as of now. Would you want to see more customization options there, or just an option to pick a chart from one of your saved reports?

Yes, I meant the WP dashboard itself. I think it will be easier and more flexible just to let us choose one or more of the charts you already have in the plugin’s own dashboard. That will save you time in doing more on WP dashboard. I had Site Kit before and it displayed visited publications as well, for example. But your plugin is much richer and allows for lots of customization already. Just a choice of adding one or more of them as our choices to WP dashboard will be great.

Great, thanks for the feedback! I think that would be a good addition to IA, and I’ll see if we can add this in an upcoming update.

    Ok, Thanks Ben.

For those reading this and hesitating to upgrade to PHP 8.4. I was on 7.4 for many years, and was afraid of doing so. But, using a clone/staging site allowed me to test the site, and it helped clear up old or problem plugins and did not even realize a new version of my theme had been released. Without doing so, I would not have realized better plugins like Independent Analytics did what I had before much better. I am finding 8.4 to be stable and faster. So, take the plunge if you can. But test the site in clone site, it is easy to do. Don’t try on live site.
