Posts getting posted twice

    Hello!

    Plugin works nicely, however we keep occasionally seeing a post get send to Telegram multiple times

    I’ve investigated and can see it seems to post it a second time when the post is updated, despite /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wptelegram only having Send When: A new post is published is ticked

    EG:

    12:29 – Post is published
    12:30 – Post is posted to Telegram (expected, we have delay set to 1 minute)

    12:34 – Post is edited (typo fixed on body content)
    12:35 – Post is posted to Telegram

    Any ideas? I have all available logs from the WPTelegram plugin, and a WP history plugin showing when posts were published/updated, but I’d rather send them privately if possible.

    We need logs for detailed information.

    Please enable logs in Advanced Settings and try again. Then send View log links to our support on Telegram – @WPTelegramSupport

    Thank you for sharing the information.

    After having a look at the logs, I could see that for the post with ID 1752042, which was duplicated, the logs tell me that when the post was published for the first time (at [2026-01-24 12:28:56]), it was scheduled for 1 minute delay and correctly sent to Telegram (at [2026-01-24 12:30:14]).

    Then after 3 minutes (at [2026-01-24 12:33:15]), the post was updated with Send to Telegram checkbox in the editor explicitly enabled, which acts as the final decisive flag.

    If you don’t want the post to be duplicated, then do not enable “Send to Telegram” option in the editor when publishing/updating the post. You can leave it to use the default settings.
