Post boxes overlap when posting

I am using the ShopeOne theme on word press. I notice that when I post articles on my home page two problems happen
1) The article boxes overlap both the images and the text. Upon refreshing this is fixed but people who click in to my website have a problem
2) I cannot control the length of the article text in the preview on my homepage. Instead it looks like just as much text as possible is included which leads to awkward cut offs.

Any ideas?
