    I did two things.
    1. update to the latest PHP and
    2. add German to the Polylang plugin (it already had Spanish, Catalan & English)
Polylang seems to be the issue, since deactivating it, shows the calendar again.
The former SLUG of the calendar did not contain the country part of the SLUG /de/ or /es/ or /en/ … but now it does. So I updated the links in the menu to point there. However the behaviour is weird:
When I first open any of the calendars it says “There are no upcoming events” but if I open the calendar and click on a date, it switches to Spanish and all upcoming events are listed. There are some more Language mixes going on with that.
On the other side no calendar was created in German (possibly because German was not installed for the events Calendar when I added German via Polylang). I did it afterwards and had not yet noticed the calendar was not working. I’ve tried to add a German Calendar page manually, which quite obviously does not work.
One more thing is that rather than having one page with all 4 (or at least 3) languages, I have one page for each language (except german) but with the other languages “empty”.

I’m not very proficient with wordpress nor websites in general and I’m unable to solve this mess.

Any guidance on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @gasparmk ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

We’d be more than happy to assist you here, however, I’m afraid your concern is specific to Polylang, as you mentioned, The Events Calendar functions well without it. I would recommend reaching out to Polylang for further assistance on this since we didn’t create the plugin or its integration abilities.

Hi and thanks for getting back to me.
I’ll contact polylang. However I would need some info on your side:
    1. Does the EVENTS CALENDER create or use a page that’s visible under PAGES?
    2. If so (1) does it use pages in different languages or does it handle languages on its own?

    Thank you

    Hi @gasparmk ,

Thank you for your message and follow up questions. Please find my remarks below.

Does the EVENTS CALENDER create or use a page that’s visible under PAGES?

No, The Events Calendar uses a dynamically generated page with its URL slug found at Events -> Settings -> General tab -> Viewing sub-tab -> Events URL slug.

If so (1) does it use pages in different languages or does it handle languages on its own?

Similar to the above, each event’s front end page (or single event page) is also dynamically generated with its URL slug found at Events -> Settings -> General tab -> Viewing sub-tab -> Single event URL slug (i.e., /event/%postname%/). Translations are handled according to WordPress’ Codex.

I’ve seen the responses, and they’re useful. However, I’m still struggling with the solution. I contacted someone who knows more than me about websites to solve the issue 😉
