I am running 5.0.9 on my live site and the captcha is working correctly. Do you know if anything has been changes in terms of php configuration on your web host recently?

Thanks for the follow-up. I checked with our web host and no recent changes with the php configuration. Anything else we can check?

I’m far from knowledgable about php config, but I looked over the php.ini file for our site to see if I could find something that might relate to this and tried commenting out session.cookie_httponly which “adds the httpOnly flag to the cookie, making it inaccessible to browser scripting languages such as JavaScript.” That didn’t make any difference, however; we still have the captcha cookie error for all our LL submission forms.

I am a bit stumped by this one. Did you install any other plugins recently on your WordPress installation? If so, try deactivating it to see if it brings back to cookies to work correctly.

I deactivated all plugins other than link library and still get the same result: “No captcha cookie given. Make sure cookies are enabled.”

The scripting department at my host also looked into this and they’re not aware of anything that could be causing the problem.

I’m stuck. I can deactivate the captcha on the user submission forms but that will open the door to spam. If you have any suggestions where to look next I’d really appreciate it. Thanks again.

I saw in the forum for the SI Plugin that the developer said it’s possible for another plugin to create a captcha conflict even if deactivated. If that’s something I should explore, I would appreciate any recommendations you might have about how to do that.

I am stumped. The only thing I can suggest is to use the custom captcha feature instead of the image captcha. With that feature, you provide a logical question (i.e. Is Boiling Water Cold or Hot), then provide the expected answer. This type of captcha uses a simpler mechanism to check if it was entered correctly and should work better.

OK – thanks for considering it. It’s an odd one, alright.
