The “Updating Failed” message when saving pages can occur when the Wordfence firewall blocks requests that the block editor uses to save content. This happens when the firewall sees these requests as potentially suspicious, even though they’re legitimate.
You can use Learning Mode to resolve this. Go to Wordfence > Firewall > Manage Firewall and change the Firewall Status to Learning Mode. Save the change, then try updating/saving your pages. The firewall will learn these are legitimate requests. After testing all page editing functionality, switch the firewall back to Enabled and Protecting.
As another option, you can allowlist the actions via Live Traffic. Go to Wordfence > Tools > Live Traffic and look for any blocked requests that occur when you try to save a page. Click the entry to expand it and click the “ADD PARAM TO FIREWALL ALLOWLIST” button next to the blocked request to allowlist that specific action.
