Please be informed that you are able to achieve the required design for your Event Calendar. However, in order to display the mentioned filters, you are required to use the Filter Add-on of WordPress event calendar to categorize the events by Days, Categories, Tags, Venues and Organizers.

Thanks for the reply. Where can I find the Filter Add-on?
Just to clarify: I’m not looking for additional filters or functionality, just trying to show the calendar with the clean design advertised on the plugin’s web page.
If you’re saying the filter add-on will also apply the design refresh, then I’ll give that a try. I’m just not sure where to find that add-on in order to try it.
