PHP mail function

Hi,

On a large number of hosting platforms, the PHP mail() function does not work or only works partially. As a result, NFW users do not receive some emails. Would it perhaps be an idea to add a simple SMTP function? Using constant variables, you could easily enable an option. This project seems suitable for this:
