Password field in all forms
-
Hi,
The password field can be used in different types of forms needed on a site so should be available to all form types for users to flexibly build the forms they wish to. At the moment, the password field is only available in the login and registration templates. Can the field be made available to all forms and templates just like the email, phone, name and other basic fields.
Is there a temporary workaround to make it available to other templates?
Thank you

Hello @temak
Hope you’re doing well today! Thank you for reaching out to us.
The password field is a specially designed field to be used only on login and registration forms due to its specific function. Hence, it is not available to be used on other form types. Could you please share some more information about how you wish to utilise it on a regular form, perhaps with an example scenario? This will enable us to understand better and I can pass your feedback to the Forminator team for review.
At the moment there is no out-of-the-box solution to add the password field to a regular form and it will require custom work over the plugin code. Which will be outside the scope of support we can provide.
For that, you’ll need to hire a developer to provide the required custom code for you. WordPress provides a jobs directory here https://jobs.wordpress.net/.
Kind Regards,
SaurabhThanks for the reply. Yes I understand the password field is currently setup in those two templates, however, I’m suggesting it can be made into a normal field used for any form (not restricted to two templates). This way, the field can be used for custom forms that might be needed on a site such as a custom sign up form for a portal or a form that needs to collect information such as api keys, or other password as needed for custom forms.
The password field is simply an input field with a type of ‘password’ and can be used in different use cases, not just in the restricted two templates at the moment. Some other forms offer this without restrictions and it would be helpful if the password field could also be used like other forminator input fields like email, phone number, etc.
Thank you.

The login and registration form works differently compared to a default form, and hence, its features aren’t included in other forms as fields.
The login/registration form also has meta values, so just adding the fields won’t be enough as a feature and will require changes to it.
However, if the intention is to use the form for user signups or login, then it should be created using the Login or Registration form templates.
At the moment, I’m afraid what you notice is the expected behaviour with how the form works and will have to create a new login/registration form so you could implement it according to your requirement.
However, I’ll make sure to pass this to our team’s attention so that they can check and explore what further improvements could be considered regarding this in future updates.

Nithin
Hi Nithin @wpmudevsupport11
Yes I understand the current setup is the expected behaviour and I was not suggesting that the registration/login forms are not working as they should. Those templates work fine and should retain their meta and connections as you mentioned.
What I am suggesting is a ‘password’ field that can be used across other forms and does not need to be connected to the login/registration form templates. The field should work just like other fields work in regular templates and do not need to be connected to anything special, the user is free to use the field as they need for their form.
Regards.
Hello @temak
Hope you’re doing well today!
Thank you for your feedback. As mentioned by Nithin in his previous response, we’ve already shared this with the Forminator team for their review to explore about it further.
At the moment, I will not be able to share an exact ETA or promise that it will be included in future releases as it is they’ll need to explore the possibilities and the popularity of the request.
However, please feel free to follow our roadmap here https://wpmudev.com/roadmap/#upcoming-forminator-1-42 so that you’re notified when a new feature is released. We’ll also be including the information on the changelog here https://wordpress.org/plugins/forminator/#developers
Once again, thank you for your suggestion, we really appreciate it.
Kind Regards,
