I am placing forms on certain posts so that when someone sees an error in that post, they can submit a simple error report form.

But I need the email to include the permalink for that specific post for which the error report was submitted so I can just go to that post and fix whatever is wrong.

I have only found one form maker that does this but it makes my pages load it very slowly so I’m looking for another forms plugin that will do this.

  • You’ve come to the right place. CF 7 is great at doing things like this.

If I understand you correctly, you are placing unique forms on certain posts, and want the form to tell you the permalink for that post?

Why not just incorporate a hidden field in the form that contains the permalink?

You can also use the Special Tag [_url] or [_post_url] to get the URL of the page in which the contact form is placed, or the post permalink, respectively.

Thanks for the reply. Problem is, I can’t make any sense of how to setup it up properly CF 7 (the rest of the form is working fine, though).

Right now, I have [hidden _post_url] in my Form tab and [_post_url] in my Mail tab, but that isn’t working. Not only is it not passing the URL, but I see “[hidden _post_url]” in my form on the front end.

I apparently my syntax is all wrong because I should not see that on my front end.

Any chance you could help me figure this out to get it working? I’d appreciate that.

I figured it out. There’s no need for the hidden field under the form tab in my case.

All I needed is to put [_post_url] under the mail tab and it returns the post’s permalink in the email just fine.

    Thanks for the help.

Sorry I wasn’t more clear. Yes, the hidden field was one of three options. I think using [_post_url] on the Mail tab is the best solution for what you’re doing. I’m glad you got it working.
