Overwrite Page on import

Hi,

I have a live website and development site. I am importing files from the Live website into the development site with no problem. If a change is made to the live site and I import again, the page is over written on the development site which is good. However if I try to do the opposite, export a page from the development site and import to the live site, it gives the message that the page exists and it ignores it. Both sites use the same version of word press and the plugin, I can’t see what it works on one site but not the other. Has anyone else got this problem?
