hi @sigwinstonwolf,
All of these are unrelated issues. Without being able to see your website and the sources being loaded or errors in dev console I can really only guess.
Its clear your CSS file isnt loading, which is why the chatbot UI looks like that. I’d guess there might be more files not loading as well.
Have you tried clearing all cache in your website including preloaded CSS. A few versions ago there was an update to all of the css IDs and class selectors.
I know this may sound very strange, but I already had this issue a few days ago and couldn’t figure out the cause. So I restored a site backup, and everything started working properly again—until this morning.
The only thing I did today was modify a couple of sources that were already present in the KB and update it. It seems like something gets triggered at a certain point. None of these errors were present on the site just a few hours ago.
I’m not using any caching plugins. The Chrome DevTools console doesn’t report any errors—usually, if a CSS file fails to load, the console shows it. I’m using MxChat version 2.6.1, but even after updating to the latest version, the issue persists.
If you’d like, I can create an access account for the site, but I need to send the credentials to you privately.

@sigwinstonwolf Please revoke that access now, your actions could get the@m4xw3ll banned from this site and their plugin closed.
@m4xw3ll You need to lose that credentials right now and confirm that you will not log into a user’s site. It’s that serious, if you do not do that then your account could be banned and your plugin removed from this site.
Please take this seriously and reply where you confirm.
While I know you have the best of intentions, it’s forum policy that you not ask users for admin or server access. Users on the forums aren’t your customers, they’re your open source collaborators, and requesting that kind of access can put you and them at high risk.
If they are paying customers (such as people who bought a premium service/product from you) then by all means, direct them to your official customer support system. But in all other cases, you need to help them here on the forums.
Thankfully are other ways to get information you need:
You get the idea.
We know volunteer support is not easy, and this guideline can feel needlessly restrictive. It’s actually there to protect you as much as end users. Should their site be hacked or have any issues after you accessed it, you could be held legally liable for damages. In addition, it’s difficult for end users to know the difference between helpful developers and people with malicious intentions. Because of that, we rely on plugin developers and long-standing volunteers (like you) to help us and uphold this particular guideline.
When you help users here and in public, you also help the next person with the same problem. They’ll be able to read the debugging and solution and educate themselves. That’s how we get the next generation of developers.
I confirm that I have revoked the credentials created and will not provide them to @m4xw3ll
also @moderator, just to be clear I have not accessed their website and I do not intend to do so. Thank you again and apologies for not being aware.
Hi @sigwinstonwolf,
Here is what I would recommend to do first. I know you mentioned being on 2.6.1, which is rather old version. I believe this occurred while using 2.6.1 and then you tried upgrading after it occurred. Start by deactivating and removing the plugin completely. Then do a fresh install of the most recent version 3.0.6 and take it from there. Uninstalling will not make you lose all of your settings.
Thanks,
Maxwell
Hello, I did what you said, but nothing changed. Maybe I should reset all settings and completely delete the KB?
