Nothing shows
-
Hi, I am testing this plugin locally with very simple theme. Even after setting it up and added a few PDFs and image to the Documents, nothing shows up on the front-end except the table header. I tried both shortcode and the Document Library — Document Library Page, but no luck. Please help.

Hi, Ko.
Thanks for using Document Library Lite. I’m happy to look into this and help sort it out.
Please could you check whether the issue you’re experiencing could be due to the theme. You can test for this by temporarily switching to a default theme, such as Twenty Twenty-Five, or Storefront by Automattic (my recommendation), or any of our Supported Themes, and see if it resolves the issue.
Please let me know how this goes.
Best regards,
EdgeThank you Edge,
I tested the Twenty Twenty-Four, Twenty Twenty-Five, and Storefront themes, and found that only Storefront works. Is there a specific reason for this? Since I’m not testing this for an e-commerce site, I’d like to make sure if it works as it should be with non-eCommerce themes.
Thanks!
Hi, Ko.
Thanks for the update. I switched to Twenty Twenty-Four (screenshot: https://share.zight.com/v1ukW868) and Twenty Twenty-Five (screenshot: https://share.zight.com/7KurW9gE) on a test site, and the document library displays in both table and grid views. This suggests that the issue you’re experiencing is isolated to your website.
To further isolate what’s causing the issue, please could you check whether it might be due to a conflict with another plugin or perhaps custom coding or CSS that you’ve added.
To test for this, please could you back up your website and then temporarily deactivate non-essential plugins apart from Document Library Lite, remove any custom coding and/or CSS/styling you’ve added, and see if it resolves the issue. Then reactivate everything one by one to find out what causes it.
Please let me know what happens.
Best regards,
EdgeThank you Edge,
I turned the Lazy Load off because there aren’t anything else I could do, then it showed up on other themes. Never knew.
Thanks,
KoHi, Ko.
Thanks for the supplemental info. Well done for figuring that out – I really appreciate this detail!
I confirm that I am now able to replicate the issue when the lazy load option is enabled. There appears to be an issue between lazy load and Full Site Editing (FSE) themes, such as Twenty Twenty-Five and Twenty Twenty-Four.
I am relaying the details to our developers for review and to investigate further, and will let you know as soon as we have new information.
Thank you for telling us about this, and I’m very sorry for the inconvenience.
In the meantime, please let me know if there’s anything else that we may assist you with.
Best regards,
EdgeGreat! I also need the functionality to search within PDF documents, potentially using the SearchWP plugin, and I want to incorporate this into the search function of the Document Library. According to the information I found on your website, “If you’re using the table layout, you must enable the ‘Lazy load’ option.” I am conducting research for my client regarding their specific needs, and I truly hope this will be resolved soon! 🤞
Thank you very much for your detailed response. I really appreciate it!
KoHi, Ko.
Thanks for your reply and understanding. The issue with lazy load and FSE themes appears to be a JS issue. Our developers are currently looking into this, and I will let keep you informed.
I appreciate the supplemental info regarding your client’s requirements. You’re correct that using SearchWP allows you to search within the content of PDF and other text documents, and this requires lazy load enabled.
Thanks for your continued patience. Please let me know if you have any more questions in the meantime.
Best regards,
EdgeHi, Ko.
Thank you for your patience.
We have created a fix for the JS error/issue (enabling lazy load when using an FSE theme, i.e. Twenty Twenty-Five and Twenty Twenty-Four, resulting in a blank document library in table view with only the column headings displayed), and included it in a hotfix version of the plugin, which you can download from this link: https://we.tl/t-NUVTlHTpC5 (active/valid for the next 3 days).
Please could you download and install this on your website, as you would a new plugin, then agree to overwrite the existing version when prompted.
Let me know whether this addresses your concern, and if you have any questions.
Many thanks! I look forward to hearing from you.
– EdgeHi again, Ko.
Regarding using SearchWP to search within the content of PDFs and other text documents (which requires lazy load enabled), please note that the integration is with Document Library Pro, rather than Document Library Lite.
Best regards,
EdgeHi Edge,
Thank you so much for the file. It worked like a charm!
…and yes, I understand about that the pro version requires to integrate with SearchWP.Thanks again and have a great weekend!
KoHi, Ko.
Thanks for confirming the issue as resolved. I’m glad we could help! I will let you know once we have released the next official version that also includes the fix.
I appreciate your understanding regarding the integration with SearchWP being included in Document Library Pro.
Please let me know there’s anything else that we may assist you with.
If it isn’t too much trouble and if you haven’t done so yet, I’d love it if you would please add a review to https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/document-library-lite/reviews/.
Best regards and have a pleasant weekend!
EdgeHello, Ko.
I hope you’re well. Thank you for your patience! We have released Document Library Lite 1.1.6, which officially includes the fix for the issue that you reported experiencing, wherein a JS error/issue occurs if lazy load is enabled when using an FSE or block theme.
Please could you update the plugin to this latest version on your website, and let me know whether the issue that was addressed via the hotfix version that we previously provided you remains resolved.
After updating the plugin, please also remember to clear/delete/empty all/any caching that might be active:
- On your website (i.e. via a caching plugin),
- Its web server (i.e. via a server-based caching service such as Cloudflare),
- And your browser (you can also review the issue via an incognito/private browser window that’s not cached – or use a different browser as an alternative; i.e. if you usually use Chrome to browse your site, then use Edge or Opera).
Many thanks! I look forward to hearing from you.
– Edge
