PDFs not working on mobile/iPad

Thanks for this plugin! We’ve noticed that the plugin doesn’t show the next/back navigation buttons for PDFs when in mobile or tablet view. This means people can only view the first page of a PDF and nothing more. Are you able to investigate?

On the page link I’ve shared, the PDF lightbox will appear when you click the “Sample Menu” button.

Hello

Could you try to change PDF viewer to “PDFJS”? You can choose it on “ARI Fancy Lightbox -> Settings -> Integration -> PDF files -> Local PDF Viewer” drop-down.

Thanks for your reply! I’ve just tried that but when I click on a link, the light box opens up a 404 error page (the PDF exists). When I use the iframe mode the PDF displays. Any ideas what’s going on?

I’ve disabled the PDFJS setting again are this is a live site.

This problem with Safari on iOS when load a PDF into IFRAME. You can find related topic below:

The solution uses an alternative PDF viewer instead of native one. We proposed to use PDFJS. If 404 error occurs then it can be a problem with server/site configuration. Is it possible to see the problem anywhere so we can investigate it?

Okay, that makes sense. I’ve enabled PDFJS and the 404 comes when the lightbox tries to load this link:

https://www.swintonestate.com/wp-content/plugins/ari-fancy-lightbox/assets/pdfjs/web/viewer/?file=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.swintonestate.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2024%2F10%2FSamuels-a-la-Carte.pdf

That returns a 404.

The PDF that should be shown is https://www.swintonestate.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Samuels-a-la-Carte.pdf

As it’s a live site, I can’t keep this feature broken so have set this back to iframe method for now. Hopefully the above is enough to identify the issue, but if not please let me know and I’ll set up a duplicate staging website to demonstrate the issue. Thanks!

It looks like a problem with configuration of your web server. The proper link to PDF viewer is:

https://www.swintonestate.com/wp-content/plugins/ari-fancy-lightbox/assets/pdfjs/web/viewer.html?file=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.swintonestate.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2024%2F10%2FSamuels-a-la-Carte.pdf

but it seems redirect rules is configured on your server to redirect *.html to */ even if the HTML file exists.

Thank you – we’ve tracked this down to a redirect setup in our .htaccess file
