No settings on the wordpress menu
-
Unfortunately on my WordPress install when I activate the plugin there is no menu access to the plugin on the left side. Also on plugin list your plugin doesn’t have any link to going into the settings. I’m unable to try your plugin unfortunately. On a demo instance works, on my production website not.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to write to us.
I suppose the problem is due to an incompatibility detected by the wpLingua plugin. You should get an error message in your back office telling you why the plugin didn’t launch.
The reasons may be:
- A PHP version lower than 7.4
- Another translation plugin activated
- A WordPress site installed in a subfolder
- Multisite option activated
Please can you check this and keep us informed,
Best regards,Hi Julien, how are you? I hope you are well!
I’m using PHP 8.4 as I love to always be updated expecially for security. For sure I will not use an old PHP version that is something often I see do π
When I tried to activate your plugin (different times) on my production personal website I had no other translation plugin active.
My WordPress is installed in a subfolder. http://www.domain.ext/wordpress/ also if when you load the website you don’t see that folder in the URL. If this is the reason that made your plugin to not work …. I’m asking I cannot use your plugin because my WordPress is installed in a subfolder?
Multisite option activated: I don’t know what this means π
Thank you!
I don’t get any error message. Where I should see an error message?
When I activated the plugin just activated no error but settings not present.Hello,
I’m fine, thank you, and I hope you’re fine too, despite this little hiccup with wpLingua.
Thank you for your feedback, it helped me identify the problem. A plugin update should be available first thing tomorrow. That should solve the problem.
Please could you try this update when it becomes available and keep me informed.
Best regards,
Hi Julien, is nice read you and know you are fine. I’m fine too, thanks for asking.
I will try to check tomorrow and for sure I think I will test the update. Thank you!
Hi Julien,
as your plugin code is also on GitHub I installed your plugin then edited the two lines of wplingua.php line 92 and 98 commented. With this edit I’m able to see the plugin menu also the banner showed by the plugin in the case the plugin was not configured. I activated a key but with some issues.
First issue was the URL of the website detected by your plugin.
My website has domain http://www.domain.ext while your plugin detected http://www.domain.ext/wordress/. Maybe this is not wrong but I edited the domain to be http://www.domain.ext as my WordPress has that domain in wp-admin/options-general.php the URL to use is the website URL not the WordPress one.he other issue is that when the translation banner message say now the website is ready, the button to see the website still point to http://www.domain.ext/wordpress that give a not found page as the correct domain is http://www.domain.ext
In addition to that the button showed to translate from Italian to English never work. I press it but is not loaded the url http://www.domain.ext/en but still be on http://www.domain.ext and if I load manually http://www.domain.ext/en I get redirected to http://www.domain.ext
Maybe your plugin need some other fix before I can use it. I hope this fix can come so I can start to try and use your plugin.
Another possible issue is that I don’t see any field on the plugin settings to edit the domain in the case this info is wrong.
Those are my plugin settings:

Here a video that show the plugin is not working:
Thank you for your help and for the plugin.
Some requests:
Would be possible ask to maybe add the possibility to hide the switcher widget and to choose to have a selector showed in the website menu like this:

As you can see near the search icon on the menu i placed the language switcher. This is from another plugin that I deactivate to replace with yours. As currently I’m unable to see yours working I will wait to try new fixes.
Would be nice be able to not have the switcher in the bottom center of the website (possibility to simply disable this widget) and choose to insert the switcher in the navigation menu. It’s more elegant and looks more professional to me.. for who are reading the website.

Hello,
The update was deployed overnight. Could you tell us if it has solved the problem of wpLingua menus not appearing in the administration?
Many thanks for your detailed feedback. I’ve set up an environment similar to the one you described. I’m reproducing the same problem. I’m going to work on it, and fixes will be in the next versions.
Concerning the automatically added language selector, you can deactivate it by choosing the ‘none’ option in the language selector positioning options. This setting can be found at the bottom of the wpLingua language selector options page.
Best regards,Hi Julien, the fix resolved the menu issue. I have now to wait for the fix that will made the plugin work, translate the site.
I never seen the option to hide the widget, I will look or it as soon an update that should work will be released. It will be possibile also have the language selector to be placed in the website menu? If this is not supported do you think to can add this? Will be nice and useful.
Thank you!
Despite a few links in the admin that should point to the wrong URLs, the plugin should work fine and translate your site.
In addition, the functionality to place the language selector in a WordPress menu is already in place. Please take a look at the language selector options page. You should find everything you need there π
Please let me know when you’ve had a moment to take a look.
Best,-

Have you seen my previous video where I showed that plugin is not translating?
I can confirm the same issue also with the last released version. You can see a new video here where I was also able to activate the switcher in the menu.Maybe the issue is caused by some plugin issue when I activate it.

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. Indeed, in both videos, we can see that the English version is not loaded, as the URL should be https://www.marcoborla.it/en/ but it remains in https://www.marcoborla.it/. Perhaps this is due to a conflict with another plugin, we’re thinking of the loading-page plugin? Have you tried disabling the other plugins on your site to find the conflict?
Best regards,
Hi Julien, thank you for the reply.
For now I haven’t tried to disable other plugin as I see on the slug page of the plugin is still showed the WordPress subfolder and I was think the issue was connected with the previous one.I will maybe try to install again and see if I’m able to find if some plugin made conflict but no idea of what can be the cause or the plugin. I cannot remove loading page plugin for sure. I will see.
Thank you
I tried to disable all plugins but the issue is the same. No translation.
What happens if you try to go directly to the URL https://www.marcoborla.it/en/ please ?
I get redirect to the main domain so without /en/
