• I have a problem with NextGen Gallery, which is very annoying, when I move an image from one gallery to another, the id of the image changes. This breaks the links to this image. When I insert a single image in an article here is an example of code that is generated “[singlepic id=1781 w=100 float=center]”, this uses the ID, if it changes the link is then broken. Is there a setting to keep the ID during the move. However I saw a tutorial on Youtube in which I noticed that the ID had not changed following the move.

I understand that the ID changes with a copy, but why change it with a move?

  • Hi @mariogroleau,

    Thank you for reaching out,

With NextGEN Gallery, each image is added to the database when uploaded. When an image is moved from one gallery to another gallery, it completely removes the image from the old gallery and a new image ID is set up at the new gallery. This is how NextGEN Gallery is intended to work.

Regarding the tutorial you’ve seen, where the ID didn’t change after moving the image from one gallery to another, it’s possible that it uses some other version of NextGEN Gallery or the move process was customized.

With NextGEN Gallery there’s not such setting allowing you to have the similar ID even after moving the images from one gallery to another. You’ll need to avoid moving the images frequently or manually update the shortcode every time the image is moved.

I hope this helps! Could you please let me know if you have any questions?

    Thanks!
