Modern Email Templates
-
There is no way to revert back to the classic email templates. The new templates have been applied with no notice and have negatively impacted the branding on sites, and may well look spammy to customers now. Please add a way to revert to the classic email templates asap.

There is a merely invisible link on WooCommerce -> Settings -> E-Mails and then scroll all the way down: “revert to legacy templates”.

Hello Michelle,
Thank you for contacting WooCommerce support.
I understand that you want to revert to the classic email templates, and the new ones have affected your site’s branding and may appear spammy to customers.
You can disable the new email templates by going to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Features and toggling off the new email experience.

Could you share more about how the new templates are impacting your branding or customer perception? Your feedback will help us improve the email experience moving forward.
Looking forward to your response. 🙂
Thank you for the reply. It would have been nice to have seen a prompt on the dashboard about this change and a direction to go to Advanced settings. I’m also disappointed that this was turned on automatically and not opted in. A simple message on the dashboard to ‘activate new email design’ would have been infinitely more preferable than what I had to deal with yesterday (freaked out clients). One client in particular made the comment about how spammy the new template looked. The biggest issue for them was the small size of the logo (and I agree, all sites I’ve looked at so far, the logo is maybe 100px wide at most?) and branding colours had been lost. With another client, the subject line of the New Order notification changed – adding cha-ching! to the subject. With the ever-increasing rise in spam and scam emails and an over burden of security issues, to make such a dramatic change without at least a dashboard prompt is really frustrating. For one client it was close to the tipping point of moving away from Woo.
Hi @webmatters,
Thank you for taking the time to share this thoughtful feedback. I understand how unsettling it must have been to experience such a significant change without a prompt or option to opt in, especially with clients depending on consistent branding and presentation in their store communications. It’s completely valid to feel frustrated when the logo size, branding colors, and even subject lines change unexpectedly, and I appreciate you highlighting how this impacted both you and your clients.
To clarify, the updated email templates are part of the Email Improvements feature introduced in version 9.9. These templates were rolled out to existing stores and should have been accompanied by an inbox notification and a modal in WooCommerce > Home, but it’s possible that the message was missed or not displayed depending on site conditions.
In the meantime, you can disable the new email experience and revert to the classic layout by heading to:
WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Features and toggling off Email Improvements
Here’s a direct view of the setting: https://d.pr/i/Canrby
Your feedback about the logo sizing, color loss, subject line changes, and lack of communication has been noted. I’ll make sure this is shared internally with the team so we can continue improving how new features are introduced and communicated.
Let us know if there’s anything else we can help with.
Hi there,
As there’s been no follow-up, I’ll consider this resolved for the time being. We’re happy to jump back in if anything comes up!
