Mobile cache not clearing

He, we recently had a problem where the mobile page cache for the frontpage for our newspaper would not clear.
We use Hummingbirds separate cache for desktop and mobile, as the pages are built differently. The cache for mobile had not been cleared for 13 hours, with the cache text from Humminbird at the bottom of the HTML saying it was last cached 00:13 midnight when the time was 13:00+.
We tried to clear the cache through the plugin gui, then programatically but only the desktop would reset and the mobile cache was frozen. We have used this cache solution for years never having encountered this issue.
Only disabling and enabling the plugin fixed the issue.

Hope you are doing well today.
The automatic clear cache works based on site visitors so if you don’t have any requests in that specific time the cache may not be cleared.
Since you mentioned the manual clear cache also had issues there might be an issue with your folder/directory or file permissions that prevent Hummingbird from being able to remove the cache files.
To investigate further if you wouldn’t mind please go to your wp-admin -> tools -> site health -> info tab and click on copy site info then share it here with us.
You can share the info here directly or use a third-party storage like Pastebin.

There are a few things I would like to confirm in order to help you further:
-Could you please confirm if there is any other caching on your site? Maybe from your Hosting, or from another plugin?
If yes, could you please try to deactivate that caching > Clear all caches and try again Hummingbird?
– If possible before clearing the cache (deactivating/activating the plugin), could you go to the wp-content folder and confirm the wphb-cache folder size? It is possible that the action is timing out at some point and sometimes could happen because of the folder size (depending on the server).

Williams ValerioThanks for the reply. Just a clarification. Deactivating and activating the plugin did not fix the issue after all. When activating the plugin again and then the cache. The original cached mobile front-page was still there.
We host ourself, and have full plugin control. Hummingbird is the only cache plugin used, and it only cashes the front page. The file permissions for all dir, and files withing the wphb-cache was 775. The dir size was. The total size of wphb-cache dir was 4kb.
We took a look at the files and saw that the mobile/www.hblad.no cache file was outdated in comparison to all the other files. However it had all the same permissions as the rest of the files that had no problem being cleared.
When we now tried to clear cache through the hummingbird dashboard we got the following error
“There was an error during the cache purge. Check folder permissions are 755 for /wp-content/wphb-cache or delete directory manually.”
We tried to delete the dir manually with the same user and had no issues with the dir or any of the files, while using the same user as Hummingbird does. So it was not the permissions that was the issue.
After deleting the dir, it now works. Clearing the cache now clear both mobile and desktop front page cache.
I think we will just keep an eye on this and see if it happens again, unless you know why this may have happened.
