I’m very excited with how the plugin is working on my 21 year old WP blog, out of 33000 links almost 29000 are archived and the dead links are magically updated to archive ones. I love it.

I am not clear on the Update capability. Where/how can I see what of my posts/pages have been archived?

I have a few very old sites I am thinking of de-commissioning but want to make sure they are fully present in the Internet Archive. I set up the plugin to not link check but archive only. Is archiving triggered only if I update an old post? Do I have to batch update them to make sure they are archived?

Hi @cogdog! Thanks for the kind note and the blog post. I love how you added the icon ::after the link, I think we’ll add that to the plugin in the next release!

We don’t currently have this in the main plugin, but we do have a companion plugin we use for testing that includes this feature. I’d be happy to email it to you if you’d like (I’d prefer not to share it widely, as it is not polished.)

Another place you can see which of your posts and pages are archived is https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://cogdogblog.com* Click on the URLs tab.

There are two options in the Advanced Settings under Auto Archiver:

Auto Archive Posts archives them when published or updated.

Routinely Archive automatically archives them every 28 days (configurable below in the Routine Interval section.)

As long as the Routinely Archive is enabled and the allowed post types are selected, your posts will be archived.

Thanks Chuck for noting my icon hack (and also for adding an old school blog comment). Thanks for the URL for checking my statuses, I will start reviewing my list of 20+ old sites.

For the auto archiving settings, that is what I have done. But this is not clear “Auto Archive Posts archives them when published or updated.”

This suggests I have to update old posts to trigger an archive? Or are all older posts archived too?

The “Routinely Archive” setting will archive your site’s posts automatically behind the scenes once a month, no updates needed.
