    Hello!

I’m having major database issue happening weekly.
It started in July after the host (one.com) had a server/database error.

As far as I can tell the whole database is overwritten with old content and pointing to a Theme not installed or used for years. This happens without warning at random it seems. First it was 3-4 weeks apart, now every week. The fix is to restore yesterdays backup of the database and everything is back to normal for a few days or a week or so. Actually this weekend it happened two days in a row …

I’ve contacted the one.com several times but they have not been very helpful and lack answers.

This is very frustrating, any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Hello,

Do you find anything suspicious on your website if that is causing this?

I recommend try using Health Check WordPress plugin once and see if that shows anything.

Further, my recommendation would be you keep a complete backup of Code and DB with you and try switching to different hosting as that may solve the issue if doubt that there is anything related to hosting.

    Thanks.

Hello Kartik and thanks for helping out.

Nothing suspicious from what I can see.

The host has a Health Check plugin and I’ve also tried the “Site Health” all looks good.

What puzzles me is what plugins or actions can actually have such an effect or power to change the database …

Thank you for checking and reporting back.

If nothing is suspicious I am amazed how this happens automatically, either it is been done through some of the Plugins which would be used for backups, or maybe hosting is reverting it back.

In any case, finding the root cause is important.

    Thanks.

The hosting includes daily backup. I’ve also used UpdraftPlus for manually backup database and sometimes files after doing changes to pages / Divi builder.
I’ve now deactivated UpdraftPlus to see if this plugin can be the cause …

Do let us know your finding.

Also do keep a backup of both the code and database so we can also use that when needed.

    Thanks.

Thought I give an update on issue.

The problem seemed to be have been UpdraftPlus. Since I deactivated UpdraftPlus the issues stopped.
I suspect the initial server/database error with the host (one.com) was the cause.
