MAJOR Bug or incompatibility found

Dear WPMU Dev Support,

I am using both Forminator and Hustle from your company and I found a MAJOR incompatibility with the two. I don’t know why or how, but I will describe it here to the best of my ability.

Error description:
On all Forminator forms I get reCAPTCHA verification failed, because the reCAPTCHA image is not appearing.
If I clear all cookies and enter with incognito, the reCAPTCHA image will appear ONCE, but once I move away from that page and then come back (or simply reload it) it disappears and will never appear again unless I clear all cookies again (or enter with incognito).

Steps I took to troubleshoot this:
I have re-created my reCAPTCHA API keys, thinking that that could be the problem
Then I noticed the reCAPTCHA banner would also only sometimes appear in the preview
I disabled loading with AJAX, because of a support ticket from some time ago mentioning I should do that
I restarted my WordPress
I restarted my server
I started disabling each plugin one by one and checking if the issue was resolved
I got to Hustle and when I disabled Hustle the reCAPTCHA magically reappeared and I was once again able to submit from all forms on my website, without needing to clear cookies or anything
I re-enabled Hustle and the problem re-appeared

Other details:
Hustle has one single form that I published, but did not put anywhere on the website.
The same effect as deactivating Hustle also was observed if I unpublished the Hustle form.

Unfortunately this bug costed me about 5 months of no one being able to contact me through my website’s contact form. I got no warnings that my forms aren’t working. Perhaps you could add in the Forminator/Hustle dashboard a warning when the reCAPTCHA verification fails?

If you need further help debugging this, just let me know. I do want to be able to use Hustle too at some point…

I was just about to post about this also. I tried both reCAPTCHA v2 checkbox and v3. The reCAPTCHA box only loads randomly. 2 out of 10 times (page refreshes) just now. Using it with a contact form and WordPress 2021 theme.

I was able to replicate this one on our end, I have escalated the issue and will provide an update once we have more information on this case.

@sharebigbear thank you for reaching out, in this case, it looks like the issue might be different as you do get the captcha, so I was wondering if you could help us by create a separate topic to continue working on your case.

Hi @dragoscristian

I just got a small update form our Forminator team that we need some additional information for further testing. Would you tell me please:

1. Is the form in question set to be loaded via Ajax or not (this is a setting on form’s “Behaviour” options page, at the bottom)?

2. What are the version of both Forminator and Hustle plugins?

3. Can you confirm if this is happening on Chrome, Firefox and, possibly, other browser or only Firefox? If it’s only Firefox, would you check if switching off the tracking protection option in Firefox (click on a “shield” icon on the left of the URL in browser and switch off the toggle switch for enhanced tracking protection) brings the reCaptcha permanently back or not?

Hi Adam,

1. No, none of the Forminator forms have the Ajax option turned on
2. Forminator 1.14.7 and Hustle 7.4.0
3. I don’t have firefox..only chrome and edge. On neither of them is working. It’s not even working in the preview, before I select anything in the Behavior tab

Hi @dragoscristian,

Could you provide us with an export of your Hustle and Forminator forms so we can do some further tests on our end?
You can get the export files by going to Forminator > Forms and Hustle > Popup/Slide-in/Embed page and click on the Gear icon.

Upload the export files to any file sharing service like GDrive and Dropbox and share the download link here.
