I received an email advising me of broken links on my site, but when I followed the link in the email to “see all broken links” I got a dialog telling me “Local Link Checker is inactive“. Your cloud-based link checker isn’t complaining about these same links (which I had previously marked as not an issue). This was for a page I’d recently updated — I didn’t change these links, just some text on the page.

Can you please update the plugin so that if the local checker is inactive, it doesn’t keep functioning behind the scenes and sending out email? Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @tylertork

    Hope you are doing fine.

I have performed a test on my lab site to verify if the email notifications are sent when the Local Link Checker is inactive but was unable to reproduce this scenario.

Could you help us with some additional information?

    1. When you mention that Local Broken Link is deactivated, do you mean deactivating it from the Plugin page or just switching from Local to Cloud ? (I performed a test with both settings but still not able to receive a notification for the local settings if the plugin was deactivated or switched to Cloud)
    2. Are you still receiving the email notifications periodically of was it a one time instance? It could be possible the cron job that triggers the notification was delayed and still in queue even after the plugin was deactivated.
    3. Could you also share the info about the current version used? And also let us know if you have the plugin installed in other sites and if they are presenting the same issue?

Thanks in advance for any additional info you may share with us, it will help us provide a more precise support to this support topic.

    Kind regards

    Luis

The plugin is active and in cloud mode. https://prnt.sc/I2X1hV_VQ4t5

I have only received one such notice that I’m aware of while the plugin was in cloud mode. It occurred after editing a page that already contained those links.

It could be possible the cron job that triggers the notification was delayed and still in queue even after the plugin was deactivated.

I haven’t had any problems with other cron processes, such as plugin updates and newsletter mailings. Moreover, the email was apparently triggered by my editing the containing page after the plugin was already in cloud mode. I should note that I’d already responded to your plugin’s complaints about these particular URLs when I created the page.

Version 2.2.0, last updated 2 weeks ago. I do use the plugin elsewhere. I haven’t observed this particular issue elsewhere yet, but I don’t often go in and edit existing pages, which seems to be the trigger for this issue.

    Hi @tylertork

    Thank you for response!

I tried to replicate this issue on my test setup but so far, I wasn’t able. I might be missing something here or it was a temporary “glitch” (or it’s something specific to the setup that you are using).

You did notice that the notification happened when you edited the page with that link. I understand that it was already after you switched to cloud engine – but was it long after that?

Did you try later on editing the same (or other with previously broken links) page again? If not, could you try making a small change there and see if this triggers notification again?

I’m asking just to test if this was more of a “glitch” or if it’s a “rule” that editing page causes notifications on your site.

    Kind regards,
    Adam
