Hello @beachmat,
Thanks for using Yoast SEO. Whether in manual or automatic page selection, the llms.txtfile created by our plugin does not include pages in draft. You might want to confirm that the file was created by Yoast SEO.
Right, thanks. The llms.txt file says Generated by Yoast SEO v27.2, and the page is definitely a draft. It was previously published and later set back to draft – I don’t know if that has anything to do with it?
Thanks for adding some clarity. In WordPress > Yoast SEO > Settings > Advanced > llms.txt, toggle OFF the button to disable the feature and refresh your llms.txtfile to confirm it returns a 404 error. Next, toggle the button ON to enable the feature, then refresh the file. The draft page should now be excluded.
Since the page was previously published then changed to draft, it’s understandable that the file wasn’t updated to reflect your changes. The file is updated weekly by a scheduled action but disabling and enabling also helps.
I had previously done what you have suggested, and I’ve done it again, but it made no difference. It’s actually a previous version of the homepage which was updated months ago, so it’s listing 2 pages for the root url.
I’ve now worked around the problem by turning off search engine indexing for the page in the Yoast settings, and it’s now gone from the llms.txt.
