• Hi – we’re after some advice. We have a wordpress site hosted on AWS.

Last month we got billed about twice as much as we ever have – normally it fluctuates a dollar or two. So we’re trying to get to the bottom of what is causing this issue. There’s nothing out of the ordinary that we have done our side – I’m the only admin, so i can be sure of that, and I keep plugins up to date though recently it took a few days to update the WooCommerce plugin, which was unusual.

From my WP dashboard, I can see on one day something very odd has happened – huge spike in visitors.

I have an integration plugin with Mailchimp, where i have to regularly remove email addresses that are clearly spam related. I also have thousands of unwanted comments that are sat for me to process, but no easy way of getting rid of that many.

Just wondered if anyone has any thoughts as to what i could look for?

Have you discussed with your hosting provider what data is leaving your domain?
