• Hello there

I’ve changed my wp-config.php file accidentally while uploading my local website to server via FTP. Server side is fine because i’ve changed my config file according to server database. But now i can not acces my local database for export my settings and apply to server. Because i’ve changed it before the actual upload, now i’m stuck.

Is there any way to recover my local database config to access local wordpress website?

  • You need to edit your local copy of your wp-config.php file to reverse your changes.

i know but i can’t. because i cant remember what my details were. 🙂 i dont remember my username, password and database name. thats why i’m stuck.

i’m not familiar with these web design things so i didnt know that wp-config.php is so crucial.

using Webmatrix by the way for local server. Can’t find any feature to see my database name etc.

You don’t login to your site to access your wp-config.php file. Just navigate to the local folder where you installed WordPress.

i can see my config.php, i dont have problem with that. i can edit, remove i can do whatever i want. But i can’t access my local website because i’ve messed up config.php. I can’t reverse to default since i don’t remember my database details like username, password, database name. thats my problem. is there a way to fix this?

sorry if i couldnt explain myself.

We can’t help you to retrieve your local server’s database details. You need to do that yourself.

We have no idea what your local server setup even is!
