How to install or update plug-in for WordPress, having only access to the server via SSH?

You’ll need to do this manually using whatever FTP client you normally use to access the site.

Why do you want to do it via SSH? you can do from your admin dashboard?

Some hosts do not allow WordPress to access FTP.

I do not have access to the admin dashboard, but I have root access to the ssh.

How using the shel or bash i can install a plugin?
I want to use the chef-server for the installation of plug-ins.
