For the 3rd time in 3 weeks Updraft Plus has created multiple huge backups of my uploads folder, filling my disc, which crashes the site. Each file is 419mb, created about 5 minutes apart from each other, and run until the server quits.

All my backups are stored on S3, but for some reason these files do not compress, and do not offload to S3. My server allows 20gb of storage, plenty for my needs when things are running right.

    Hi Gary,

Could you please check if the ‘Delete local backup’ option is enabled?

To check, go to UpdraftPlus ‘Settings’ tab > ‘Show expert settings’ > ‘Delete local backup’. Make sure it is ticked. This will tell UpdraftPlus to automatically delete the backups on your server once the backups are successfully sent to your remote storage.

    Best Wishes,
    Bryle

Yes, it is checked. All the SSL options below it are unchecked.

    Hi Gary,

The attached screenshot doesn’t show multiple backups; it shows a single backup, split over multiple zip files (which is the intended behaviour, to prevent any one zip file from getting too big). It also indicates that the backup is still in progress, which is why the files are still on the server and not yet uploaded to remote storage.
