Image Resize Glitch

I’m experiencing a strange visual glitch on my website with the wp_latest_posts plugin. I have the recent posts section on my homepage using the shortcode. The page appears correctly at first and then for a split second the first image blows up big and covers almost all of the homepage before it resizes back to normal. So there is this noticeable flicker every time the homepage is loaded.

I have tested on multiple browsers and all have the same issue. I have tried disabling plugins and playing around with the settings and I have had no luck fixing my problem.
