• Hi, I had no problem in save settings of participants database in another server. But in the Blue Hosting where I started to build a new site, I cannot save the setting. Is there any possible reason of this? How can I tell the Blue Hosting company about this matter?
I would really appreciate it if you could help me with this. Thank you.

Hi, I have tried the plugin in two different hosting companies and in both of the hosting situation, I cannot save the setting of the participants plugin. The following is the error message.
Could you help me on this issue?

<The first hosting company – Korean hosting company>
    “The smartvoca.com page isn’t working

    smartvoca.com didn’t send any data.
    ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE”

    <The second hosting company – Bluehost company>
    “The wmeglobal.org page isn’t working

    wmegloabl.org didn’t send any data.
    ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE”

I also run a site in a university server. It is working but it was installed about a month ago. It is still working and I can save the setting. I find that the plugin was updated 2 days ago. Do you think that this issue is related to the update?

I have checked this issue in an another site that I run in a University server. It works all right. I can save the setting. It seems that it is related to the server setting or server security setting. Could you tell me how I deal with the hosting companies regarding this issue?

The sites where I cannot save the participants database setting are all shared hosting service providers. I love this plugin. I would really appreciate it if you could help me with this issue.

    Thank you.

There is nothing in recent updates that would affect this.

I have seen security rules prevent settings from getting saved. You will need to contact your web host about the problem, they will be able to see it in the server logs and make the changes to allow it to work.

Hi, thank you for the reply. I have done all the communication I could do with the Bluehost. But they say there is nothing wrong in their side. I am stuck here. Could you be a little more specific about security rules? And then, with that I could communicate again wiht the Bluehost. Thank you again.

Hi, again, could you tell me server requirements for the plugin. I became desperate because I have done a lot of data work with Participants Database in a university site. I am moving it to the Bluehost. If you could offer me the server requirement, I could communicate further with the Bluehost. Thank you again for the plugin.

If there were security rules preventing the settings submission, the host should know about it. The specific type of rule that it would be is a rule that prevents the POST data from having certain kinds of content like scripts or database hacks. Did you ask them if your requests were hitting security rules?

The server requirements are the same as for any WordPress installation. It doesn’t have any special requirements beyond that.

Have you tried deactivating other plugins to see if that will allow your settings to save?

Thank you for the reply. I told the Bluehost that my requests were related to security rules. But they told me that they could not change security rules because it was shared hosting. I save the settings before I install any other plugins. So I think that it was not related to other plugins. But I will investigate the possibility of other plugins causing the issue. By the way, could you recommend any other shared hosting service providers that would not cause this issue?
    Thank you again.

I have deactivated all other plugins other than the participants database but I still cannot save. I would appreciate it if you could you recommend any other shared hosting service providers that would not cause this issue.
    Thank you again.

I understand. I wouldn’t suggest you go to another web host, that’s a pretty drastic step to take. My suggestion was based on past experience, and may not be applicable to your case.

I do need to have more information to better understand what is going on. Do you have a PHP error log set up? Getting a look at that after you try to save the settings may be helpful.

Thank you for the reply. Yesterday I also found that I could not save the settings in the website where I run in the GoDaddy hosting company. The participants database works well in my university server but when I use it in the shared hosting companies such as a Korean company, Bluehost, and GoDaddy, I cannot save the setting and I get the same error. Your plugin is super great. I hope that I could find the solution to this issue. Thank you.

Sorry but I do not have PHP error log set up. I will search what it is and find if I can do PHP error log set up. Thank you. Have a nice day. But I am still wondering why I cannot save the settings in the shared hosting sites.

If you get the PHP error log set up, we may learn why it won’t save.

Hi, I failed to set up my own PHP error log set up but I found another log file in the server. Could you look at this log to see if this logs are related to the issue?

I suggest you send that to your web host in a support ticket. Looks like a bunch of your PHP isn’t loading properly.
