Hum, child of Twenty Eleven strange iOS behaviour

In particular, in landscape format on a Nexus 7″ tablet the theme is shown on two columns, which looks and works well. On a Retina 10″ iPad, however, it formats as one column, where two columns would be preferable (landscape).

More disturbing, on the iPad the menu items do not work on a single click. It is necessary to click an item once, at which point it is highlighted, and then any of the menu items will work when clicked. Can anyone shed light, please?
