Hi there,
Rank Math provides a straightforward way to implement breadcrumbs, even in block themes, using its built-in shortcode.
Step 1: Enable Breadcrumbs in Rank Math:
- Navigate to your WordPress Dashboard.
- Go to
Rank Math > General Settings > Breadcrumbs.
- Toggle the
Enable breadcrumbs function switch to ON.
- Configure the breadcrumb settings below as needed (separator character, show homepage link, prefixes, etc.).
- Save Changes.
Step 2: Add the Breadcrumb Shortcode via the Site Editor:
- Go to
Appearance > Editor. This will open the Full Site Editor.
- In the left sidebar, select
Templates.
- Choose the template where you want the breadcrumbs to appear. Common choices include:
Single Post: For individual blog posts.
Page: For static pages.
Archive: For category, tag, or date archives.
- You might also want to edit the
Header or Page Header template part if you want them consistently across many templates, but adding it directly to the main templates (like Single Post, Page) gives more specific control.
- Click on the template to open it for editing.
- Decide where you want the breadcrumbs (usually near the top, below the main header/navigation but above the post/page title or main content).
- Click the
+ (Add Block) icon where you want to insert the breadcrumbs.
- Search for the
Shortcode block and add it.
- Inside the Shortcode block, paste the Rank Math breadcrumb shortcode:
[rank_math_breadcrumb]
- Click
Save in the top right corner to save your changes to the template.
- Repeat this process for any other templates where you want breadcrumbs displayed (e.g., add it to
Page if you first added it to Single Post).
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Rodica
