How access source code for page I created

    I am a web developer and getting use to WordPress. I see the Editor for all the theme templates. But Have run into something. When I place content into a page I can see additional code that i did not intend to be there when I view the source code in browser.

    Example

    <a>
Source line 254 = <p> </p>

    How can i delete this unwanted code. I have redone page on new pages but it keeps showing up. This is probably easy and in my face BUT ????
