You do need the whole theme for that. Quite a bit of work went into that – it’s a completely custom design designed and developed inside the theme itself. The only other way I see is to hire someone to make a custom layout for your existing website. There is no code snippet that I can give you that will turn on horizontal mode – it’s going to require at least a full days work (probably more) for a professional developer.
