You are correct, this does come from your theme. From your description, it sounds like this change may require some changes to the JavaScript of the theme – I would recommend contacting the developer as they may have a snippet for this. I’m also going to leave it open for a bit to see if anyone is able to chime in to help you out.

Regarding contacting the theme developer, I am not sure if they have some contact details in the theme details but that may be a place to try – or by filing an issue on the GitHub repo for the theme, that could work
