    Hi

I accidentally installed wp on the root eg http://mysite.tld
I wanted the www , but everything I tried to switch it over didn’t work.
I deleted the installation and have tried installing it again.. When I go to http://www.mysite.tld/wp-admin it redirects to
    http://mysite.tld/sapp-wp-signon.php?pass=[redacted]
and I get a server not found message

I have now tried it several times all with the same results

What have I done!! Why wont it install?

  • This would be something for you to contact your host about; it seems as if a site is already present in what could be a www folder.

They can help you migrate it to the right place.

Thanks but I already deleted it
Contacted softaculious and they cant seem to log into the cpanel
    am now contacting cpanel

    Hello

When you go to this link http://mysite.tld it says “This site can’t be reached www.mysite.tld’s server IP address could not be found.”

That means that you already set up a redirection and something is missing at the Domanin Zone Records, you can check these at the domain cpanel under domain, Zone Editor or at the public “dnschecker organization” using mysite.tld, note that all the domain cname (Common name) records are missing.

You could add the missing records that should look like this:
Name: mail.mysite.tld. TTL: 14400 Class: IN Type: CNAME Record: mysite.tld
Name: www.mysite.tld. TTL: 14400 Class: IN Type: CNAME Record: mysite.tld
after that, going to www.mysite.tld surely will lead you to a link like this one: http://mysite.tld/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi
then you will be ready to set up your WordPress at www.mysite.tld

It would be good if you add https redirection at the file .htaccess, because your domain already have a SSL certificate to make your site more secure, you could type at google “htaccess www and https redirect” and check for the first link after the advertise, the “htaccessbook”.

I hope that all this can be of good use to you, if you need more help, just let us know.

this page is coming up first in google for the new domain. Can the domain names please be deleted from the post?

When a post is made and people contribute answers to an issue, that then becomes part of the community resource for others to benefit from. Deleting posts removes this added value. Forum topics will only be edited or deleted if they represent a valid legal, security, or safety concern.

Another reason we don’t delete/edit posts is that allowing that would create a huge workload on the moderators, who are volunteering their own time to keep these forums a safe place.

If you need to contact the moderators about this then you can do so via the Slack #forums channel.

To use that channel you need a Slack account. You can obtain one via these instructions.

    Slack – https://make.wordpress.org/chat/

When you contact the #forums channel, inform them what your WordPress.ORG forum user ID is. That will help the moderators find your account and ascertain what the issue is.

If you do use Slack do not direct message me or any other moderator. Use the #forums channel and any moderator there can assist you.
