    Hi everybody,

My name is Philippe. I’m setting up the new website (and shop) for AA Vlaanderen.
I work as a volunteer and I have to learn everything on my own 🙂 which is not always easy.

I made the site using Elementor which I like a lot by-the-way. Now I’m trying to make a copy of the existing webshop (www.aavlaanderen.be) and I have difficulties to indicate the homepage for the shop in Woocommerce. Also have difficulties to create the product page as I would like.
    Can anybody help me?
    Many thanks in advance

    Philippe

    Hi there!

Thank you for reaching out, and it’s great to hear that you’re setting up the new website and shop for AA Vlaanderen. You’re doing amazing work learning everything on your own isn’t always easy, but you’re definitely on the right track. 😊

Before I guide you further, I just want to clarify what exactly you’re trying to achieve with the shop page, so I can give you the right instructions.

Could you please confirm one of the following:

    Option 1:

You want to set a custom page as the WooCommerce Shop page
(Meaning: this page will act as the main store/catalog page in WooCommerce settings.) If this what you want you can follow the these steps:

    1. Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Products
    2. Set the Shop Page to the page you want to act as your main store page.
    3. Make sure that WooCommerce blocks/widgets are added to that page if needed.

    Option 2:

You want the Shop page to become the homepage/front page of the website
(Meaning: when someone visits your website, the shop appears as the first page.)

    1. WordPress dashboard -> Settings → Reading → Homepage displays → A static page → Shop page

Regarding creating the product page the way you want, I would suggest contacting the Elementor support team here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/elementor/. They know the plugin settings very well and can guide you on how to edit the product page using the Elementor plugin.

    Hello! Thanks for your help!

I indeed want to set a custom page as the WooCommerce Shop page and I already tried what you explain here: go to WooCommerce → Settings → Products and set the Shop Page as my store page.
But… what do you mean by this: ‘Make sure that WooCommerce blocks/widgets are added to that page if needed’?

(Sorry, but I’m new to all this…)

Hi there @phlipr, let me try to help:

I indeed want to set a custom page as the WooCommerce Shop page and I already tried what you explain here: go to WooCommerce → Settings → Products and set the Shop Page as my store page.

That’s good! Can you confirm that if you click on Visit Store from the admin, the correct page is opened?

But… what do you mean by this: ‘Make sure that WooCommerce blocks/widgets are added to that page if needed’?

This might vary a little bit depending on the theme you are using and whether you are using Gutenberg (the WordPress’ default editor) or Elementor.

First of all, you will need to know if your theme is a block theme or a classic theme. You will know you are using a block theme if you see Appearance → Editor in the left menu.

      • If you are using a block theme: go to Appearance → Editor → Templates → Product Catalog and edit the template as you wish. You might not want to make any changes, or you might want to tweak a lot. You can read more about the Site Editor in the WordPress.com docs.
      • If you are using a classic theme: go to Appearance → Customizer → WooCommerce to tweak some settings of the shop page. You can also modify the page directly by going to Pages → Shop (or the page you set as the Shop page) and editing its contents, but keep in mind that in classic themes, WooCommerce adds the product grid automatically, so there are fewer customization options available. If you have Elementor, you might see an Edit with Elementor button at the top left to open its editor.

      Hope that helps!

Hi Albert, thnkas for taking some time to help me!

      1. ‘Can you confirm that if you click on Visit Store from the admin, the correct page is opened?’
-> Yes it opens the right page!
      2. I’m actually not using a theme…. I’m trying to build a ‘Product archive’ page with elementor. I’m trying to make a copy that resembles the old shop: http://www.aavlaanderen.be

      🙂 yes, ypou help me.

      Hi there!

Great, thanks for confirming that Visit Store opens the correct page, and I’m glad to hear the previous steps were helpful.

I’m a little bit confused about what exactly you’re looking to do next. Since the correct page opens when you visit the store from the admin, could you please confirm if you want to change that page and make it similar to your old site using Elementor?
