• I have wordpress 5.8 installed on a ubuntu 20.04 server. I have installed imagemagick which I can check by doing the convert -version (6.9.10-23). When I look at the blog dashboard it shows ImageMagick version number as Not available (along with ImageMagick version string and Imagick version). The Active editor is WP_IMAGE_Editor_GD.

I have located the php.ini file in use, and have added the extension=imagick.so line and restarted apache2. I would like to get ImageMagick to be the active editor and be able to see it in the wordpress dashboard (under Media Handling).

Any tips I can try to attempt to get ImageMagick active within wordpress?

Is the Imagick PHP extension installed on your system? If not, install PHP-Imagick 3.4.4 or later. If you are using PHP 8.0+, you must install PHP-Imagick 3.5.0 or later — older versions of PHP-Imagick are not compatible.

You might also want to update your version of ImageMagick.
