Gallery doesn’t show up

The gallery shortcodes do not work. The shortcode text only displays on the front-end of the site. I am using the Genesis WordPress theme.

Also, and possibly related, in the media library > categories admin page, each category is displayed with a count of 0. This contradicts the images displaying their categories when viewing the media library in the list view.

Any help would be great. Currently I have two sites in build attempting to use this plugin. I’d hate to abandon Go Gallery in search for another option but deadlines are deadlines.
