Footer not staying at the bottom?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to help me… I love this theme and so want to use it, but am having trouble with the footer!

The black footer bar does not sit at the bottom of my page, but in the middle of it, and the footer content gets squished and moved around. If I add footer widgets, they get inserted and squished all over the page. This footer is static and does not move with page scroll.

I have done nothing but install and activate the theme, so have no plugins/made no edits/code changes that should have caused this. I also tried adding more content to the site to see if that might push it down, but this had no effect either.

Any thoughts or help would be so appreciated!
