Foogallery not generating thumbnails
-
Hi,
I run WP 5.5.3 and FooGallery does no longer work. The thumbnails are just “grey” and not clickable.
I have installed the “Jquery Migrate” plugin but with no result.
I runned the Thumbnail Generation Test and got the following message:
Thumbnail generation test failed!object(WP_Error)#17960 (2) { [“errors”]=> array(1) { [“invalid_image”]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(96) “insufficient image data in file `/tmp/magick-118ZEMFctk2JNL3′ @ error/jpeg.c/ReadJPEGImage_/1166” } } [“error_data”]=> array(1) { [“invalid_image”]=> string(76) “http://media.torbjornstips.se/2017/06/2017-08-18-19.37.57-e1509357870450.jpg” } } array(2) { [“ext”]=> string(3) “jpg” [“type”]=> string(10) “image/jpeg” }
I would be grateful for any help.

hi @agamemnon-d
Looking at the error, it seems to be an error in the imagick library.
Goto your FooGallery settings, and under Images tab, enable the “Force GD Library” setting. Then test thumbnails and see if that works
when you run the test thumbnail generation, after changing to GD, what is the error that is shown?
please note you may not have GD on your server
Hi again @bradvin
Now it shows: Thumbnail generation test ran successfully.
-But the thumbnails still don’t load and are not clickable.
I had a look at your page. The thumbs are not loading because the thumb image path is https://media.torbjornstips.se/cache/2020/10/Lattlagad-fredagsmeny-i-pandemitider/432429052.jpg
For the above image, Foogallery tries to create a thumb in the following location:
I think you have a plugin that is rewriting all your media to https://media.torbjornstips.se which is probably a CDN of sorts.
That is causing the problem here
Could you please advise me how to correct this?
I’m no hacker as you probably guessed already.

Hi @agamemnon-d
You’ll first have to identify the plugin that’s causing this issue.
One way to do this is to deactivate all of your plugins and then activate them one-by-one until you encounter the problem. However, if you were to do this, you might end up breaking your site thus causing disruptions for your users!
To avoid such a “doomsday level” scenario for your site, follow this simple guide of ours that will help you do the above process safely without having any impact or even downtime to your live site: https://fooplugins.com/documentation/general/general-troubleshooting/health-check-debug/
Thanks.
Kind regards,
Elvis.Hi Elvis,
I have done as you suggested but with no result.
All the plugins looks ok.Is there a communication problem between FooGallery and WP 5.5.3 ?
Do you think I have to change to another gallery plugin?mfh/Torbjörn
Hi @agamemnon-d
Once on the WordPress dashboard, could you kindly navigate to FooGallery > System Info, and then copy all the system information that is on that page and paste it here? Thanks in advance.

Hi @agamemnon-d
Thanks for sharing the system info with us.
From the system info, I do see that you do have an HTTPS Mismatch error i.e,there is a protocol mismatch between your site URL and the actual URL and this might be causing the error.
To fix this, simply head over to Settings » General page and look for WordPress Address and Site Address options as shown in this image: https://cdn3.wpbeginner.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/wpurl.png
You need to make sure that both URLs are correct. You need to have the same URLs for both options as shown in the example image above.
Keep in mind that WordPress treats www and non-www URLs as two different addresses. If you have SSL enabled on your website, then your URLs should begin with HTTPS instead of HTTP.
Don’t forget to click on the Save changes button to store your settings.
Kindly let us know if this works for you.
Kind regards,
Elvis.Hi again Elvis,
Both addresses are ”https://torbjornstips.se”so it seems like this isn’t the problem or could the address be incorrect?
mfh/Torbjörn
Hi again,
Are the addresses ok in “Settings/media”? Please see encl. screenshot.
mfh/Torbjörn
Hi @agamemnon-d
Both addresses should be ”https://torbjornstips.se” as you’ve mentioned to us.
On the screenshot you’ve just shared with us in your last message, change the second URL link from ”http://torbjornstips.se” to ”https://torbjornstips.se” or leave it blank and then save the changes.
Kindly let us know if this works for you.
Kind regards,
Elvis.Hi,
I tried both https and leaving the field blank.
Leaving it blank caused the main image to dissappear.
https didn’t do anything.mfh/Torbjörn
