In my current theme (Genesis Metro Pro), images that I have set as featured images in post using the Gutenberg block are all different dimensions, for example some are 1200px wide, some might be 700px, a 1000px, etc.

My question is, is it so important that the featured images in posts are all the same dimensions, and that they be specific dimensions?.

I’m just asking so I know what expect. I’ve had Blocksy Pro for a couple of years now but I’m a little apprehensive about switching in case it’s going to be a major drama.

The general rule of thumb would be to have high quality, high resolution images, as the theme should take care of resizing/cropping them for you.

For example, in the Customiser, you can set up to have a specific physical size for your photos, and the theme would automatically take care of framing them for you. That’s why it is important for the photos to be high quality/resolution, so that the theme would have enough to work with.
