I manage several dozen WordPress websites for clients and recently started evaluating UpdraftPlus Premium as a replacement for our current backup solution.

One feature I miss compared to other backup plugins is the ability to send email notifications only when a backup fails or requires attention.

For agencies and maintenance providers, successful backups usually do not require any action. Receiving a report after every successful backup creates unnecessary email noise and forces us to build additional filtering rules outside of UpdraftPlus.

It would be extremely useful to have a notification mode such as:

    • Send email on backup failure only
    • Send email on warnings and failures only
    • Send email for every backup (current behavior)

This would make UpdraftPlus much better suited for multi-site maintenance environments where dozens of websites are backed up automatically every day.

Is this already available somewhere in Premium, or could it be considered for a future release?

Thank you for the great work on the plugin.

    Hi,

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback and suggestion.

This is actually currently available as a Premium feature. You can configure the email reporting behavior in the UpdraftPlus settings, including limiting notifications so that emails are only sent when warnings or errors occur, instead of after every successful backup.

    Thank you for the clarification.

This is exactly the feature I was looking for. I had only tested the free version, so I wasn’t aware that Premium allows reports to be limited to warnings/errors only and sent to custom email addresses.

For agencies and multi-site maintenance environments, this is a very useful feature.

Thanks again for the quick response!
