False Positives

    Hello, I’ve been using your plugin for years and love it. However, recently I’ve been having a problem with comments and contact form submissions being falsely flagged as coming from a bot. They’re not.

    I’m using version 8.9.6. When I look at the logs, they just say that the traffic was identified as a bot.

    In order for any comment or form submission to get through I have to completely turn off the Cerber anti-spam engine and just go with ReCAPTCHA. While this works, I don’t feel very comfortable with this.

    Note that this problem has just been occurring for the last few months. Before that everything was fine.

    @gioni What we have now found is that CERBER blocks legitimate form submissions even when a cache solution is not in place. A cache solution just makes it a whole lot worse.

    We have rolled back to 8.9.3 and this works fine. Anything after that and we start to see issues again.

    I can confirm that false positives begin again after installing 8.9.5. Sounds like quite a few others are having issues as well, given this thread.

    I installed 8.9.5 and noted that legitimate comments are being marked as spam.

    Then I went to 8.9.3 again and the same comments were NOT marked as spam.

    Just an update here – I had to update to 9.2 for reasons I won’t go into (due to hosting).

    I’ve not noticed any false positives in the last 3 weeks or so. Not sure if/what changed, but seems to be just as good as 8.9.3 was for me. I’ve not verified whether 8.9.5 still has an issue or not.

    Just thought others might like to hear this.

    Of course, updates are harder, now that Cerber isn’t in the catalog. But, you can download from their website and manually update.
