Facebook Authentication Error

    Hi Nextend,

    I am having a problem with the facebook login/register. Whenever a user tries to signup or register via the Facebook option you see a the page name shows Authentication Error then redirects back to the native wp-login page. If you try continue with facebook the same problem happens and goes back to wp-login.

    I had this working not so long ago so I do not understand what has happened since. The Google login works fine so its just the facebook login I have issues with.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi @equisitor!

    Do you still see the issue? Because I managed to register and login to your website with the Facebook login (Gabor Racz user). Are you using a test Facebook account or a real account, what you use in real life too? Facebook had limited down some accounts what they found to be fake accounts and because of this some testing accounts became limited too and they don’t have permissions to login through a Facebook login app. Please try to login with a different account if that seem to work for you!

    Hi Gabor, thank you for your swift action. I saw your registration and immediately face palmed.

    I believe the issue is with normal registrations using the same email address as Facebook conflicted. Once I deleted the original user, re-registering with Facebook seemed to go through ok. So thank you very much.

    Hi @equisitor,
    thank you for the details. Account linking to the same email address should work as expected. There are two possible ways when it shouldn’t work:

    – Pro Addon installed: Every provider has a setting to disable automatic account linking (Enabled in the free by default)

    – You have a user with [email protected] email address and that user already have a Facebook account linked. But that Facebook account is not the one which you currently use and as that account already has a Facebook account, Nextend Social Login blocked your try for security reasons.

    Could you confirm that you have one of the previously described situation? If not I will try to find the use case for this error message.

    I found another issue is if I didn’t login Facebook before, I have to login 2 times. First time has no error but it doesn’t logged in, the issue of authentication error is not about AUTH redirect URL because I have changed to use simple facebook login (WP Facebook login) for all sites, it works fine for every sites. thanks for your help.
