    Hi,
Thank you, the plugin is excellent and does exactly what I need but I’m having problems exporting tables to Excel or CSV. I have had a look at the videos and think I’ve checked everything but when I go to Data Publisher and do any of the exports I’m just getting the headings that are in the table and no data. The ‘Test publication’ works great and shows what I’d like as an export. Am I missing something?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Best wishes

    Hi Anthony,

There are two types of list tables:
    1) Data Publisher
    2) Data Projects

The Data Publisher uses jQuery DataTables and does not support any kind of export. To create exports you’ll need to create a Data Project. Ones your Data Project page is up and runnng, you can select the rows of your table and use the batch listbox to create an export. This is the default WordPress list table behaviour.

What I understand from your question is that you are trying to export a publication from the Data Publisher. Is that correct? From the Data Publisher you can export publications. You’ll need this feature if you want to transfer publications from one WordPress installation to another. It does however not export the table data used in your publication.

I’m not sure if I have answered your question. I might have misunderstood you. So please, let me know it this help you. Maybe you can add some screenshots?

    Best regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

Thank you and apologies as databases and tables aren’t my strongest point.

Yes I think I was expecting the data and not just the table to be exported from the Publisher so thanks for clearing that up.

I’m still working with the dummy data that you made ( thank you ) as the system was very close to what we were looking at.

So for instance, if I wanted to export the wpda_sas_student table from your data how could I do this? I’m not sure where the Batch Listbox is.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi Peter,

Thanks, I’ve just been able to do what I need via the Data Explorer.

One last question though…. how can I change the names of the columns. I can change the labels in the dummy data ok but not sure how to add or change the names of the column itself.

    Many thanks

    Hi Peter,

Apologies, it’s not really exporting as I’d like so if I can find another way to do it that would be great.

    Hi Anthony,

Here is a link to a tutorial:
    https://wpdataaccess.com/docs/documentation/data-explorer/exports-and-imports/

Might be helpful… And here are the basic steps:

Following these steps if you want to export the full table:
    – Navigate to WP Data Access > Data Explorer
    – Search your table
    – Click on the Manage link of your table
    – Click on button EXPORT

If you want to export specific rows:
    – Navigate to WP Data Access > Data Explorer
    – Search your table
    – Click on the Explore link of your table
    – Enable the checkbox of the rows you want to export
    – At the top of the screen select the type of export (SQL, XML, JSON, Excel, CSV)
    – Click on button Apply

Just keep on trying and let me know if you got it to work… 😉

    Best regards,
    Peter

Thanks Peter, I had watched the video and your videos are great but I’m still having problems. I’ve done a few screenshots so you can see my dilemma.

Basically I’m setting up a system where we register when someone shows an interest in a course and take their details. The form is perfect ( thank you) and is in the correct order.
    This is the input area:-
    https://ibb.co/6tjc7DD
This is the list which again is in the right order.
    https://ibb.co/sVKNgnk

When I go to the Explorer to export the table, this is what the table looks like and the order ( i have changed the labels ):-
    https://ibb.co/yY1pd35

So clicking on ‘Explore ‘ gives me this view, which I can live with but is the wrong order :-
    https://ibb.co/w4Q77Q2

And then when I go to export ( Excel or CSV ) I get this:-
    https://ibb.co/vXXJG0M
    Which has different table headings

It would be great if I could get the same labels ( I do tick the box) and in the right order if possible.

Thanks again for your help 🙂

    Hi Anthony,

Thank you for adding the screenshots! Now I understand the problem… The column labels are not taken into account in the exports. 😉

I’ve added this bug to my to do list. I’ll fix it asap and let you know when the version will be released.

Thank you for being so patient and persistent! 🙂

Are you planning to use the SAS software?

Amazing, thanks Peter and if the order can be looked at as well that would be the icing on the cake. 🙂

Thanks again. I help with the IT of a community organisation that want to keep a record of interest in the free courses they run as well as how many people take up the courses partly for evidence for future funding. The plugin has everything and more than we need right now and is perfectly simple to use. Thanks again.

    Hi Anthony,

Version 2.7.1 is released. It contains a number of bug fixes, including the bug you mentioned. Column labels are now used in exports to Excel and CVS as well. 🙂

If you intend to use the SAS app in production I’m interested to help to create a full features school administration system free to use for everyone. Just let me know!

    Best regards,

    Hi Peter,

Sorry, for the delay. Thanks so much for the update. The excel headings are now the same as the table labels. I’m still having problems with the order but I’ll let you know.
I’m waiting to hear back from the community group so I’ll have to let you know when I do.
I think there are a couple of things I wanted to check as well but I’m away now for a few days but I’ll give you a shout if that’s ok.

    Best wishes
