The import process should be working like any other post type. Are you using any Ditty News Ticker extensions on the origin site? Or, are you only using the default ticks?
Can you provide a link to your export file that I can try an import with?

No extensions, just the default ticks. It’s VERY basic. One sentence of plain text and the URL.

Problem: Tickers not importing.
Cause: Posts/Tickers existed in target site, WP blocks import of duplicate posts.
Solution: Rename or delete existing tickers, then import. Note: when you import posts, the ticker will have a different ID and shortcodes used to display the ticker are based on ID. So, you will need to update any shortcodes or widgets you are using to display the ticker.
