How is build your journal page a screenshot from backend can be usefull, what is the version of the WPBakery page builder , in the other post you says you use it with theme options
sure, I use the latest Wpbakery. The blog page you see is generated with a query element. You can see Wpbakery and theme options on this image. Nothing special, just options without any reference to any excerpts

Ok, this is perhaps a problem with the last WPBakery version, a post in the Falang for WPBakery is probably the right place. i have to update my local site to the last wpbakery element and configure teh query element

i don’t have the last js_composer plugin but i don’t ahve the query element
I could send you the last js_composer but I have no idea if it’s the default version or if would be slightly adapted to the theme. Just tell me how I can help you tackle the issue….

I have tested with the 8.0 version and a “Post Grid” WPBakery Shortcode and it’s work. can you try this on a test page.
It can be the WPBakery version or a problem with your theme
I did further testing and I found the solution: if I just write the English excerpt in the Falang post setting, then it would not recognize that there is an excerpt in the original language, because there isn’t. So, I must write the excerpt in the original post as well, and then write the English one in the Falang post setting.

yes , it was the solution in the other support thread too. an excerpt need to be set in the original language to allow the translation, in other case the translation can be displayed.
